Prelaw Overview

Viewing the overview webinar will be your first touchpoint with our office beyond new student orientation. With these basics under your belt, we hope that your future meetings with our staff will be more personalized and substantial. All students are encouraged to have watched the overview webinar (or previously attended a live overview session) prior to scheduling a one-on-one prelaw advising appointment.

The College of Arts and Science Preprofesional Advising Center can support you with your prelaw education and help you decide how, when, and where to apply to law school. Our operations are offered in a hybrid mode (in-person & remote); if you need to make an online or phone appointment with a member of our staff, please contact us. 

The Preprofessional Advising Center is your best resource as you prepare for law school, but the ultimate responsibility for your post-graduate planning rests on you. Prelaw advisors can help you determine whether law school is the right fit for you, assist you in the application process, and help assess you chances of admission into your desired programs.

NYU Prelaw offers programs and events throughout the year focused on skill-building and networking for the prelaw community. Some of our programs include Lunch with a Lawyer, where we invite NYU alum to discuss their current work in the legal field, and the Lawyer Alumni Mentor Program, which pairs current CAS undergraduate students with alumni for the academic year. NYU Prelaw also hosts workshops on the application process and belonging in the legal field.
